The Commuknit Manifesto started with a serie of workshops during which people from the AGNES neighbourhood came together to share a moment of knitting in the perspective of radical community building. Leaving behind all expectations of performance and efficiency, we chose to refuse to consume, but instead to share our time, knowledge, personal stories, resources, advices, ideas and opinions.
The tapestry that resulted from these weekly meetings is a testimony of community, acceptance, and support. The parallel website acted as both a project log and a resource for knitters, hoping to provide support and insight into the political aspect of the history of craft.
