A SLIP OF THE TONGUE

experiments in feminist speaking practices

Feline Artz

How is it that we evaluate the same behavior differently depending on who is speaking? What began as a series of workshops addressing internalized misogyny in vernacular language, evolved into an investigation of the communicative space itself. The methods used within the workshops were continuously refined in response to the conversations they generated. Lastly I materialized them into cards, to help bring awareness to the hierarchy in the room, and facilitate an overall reflective discussion. The aim is to reveal the often invisible power dynamics that influence conversations and encourage a more conscious way of speaking.

Feline (she/her) is actually a graphic designer but loves to think about words and their meanings.

Work

The actual work that I have done are the workshops that I hosted and all the knowledge that I gained through that process. This Website is explaining the cards that i developed, alsongside with a 'how to', 'short history about the project', a section with 'aftercare' tips and 'books, references and Inspiration'. It also gives the possibility to print your own set of cards and the website made into a little booklet.
