Routers are Computers is a sonic installation. It is
situated somewhere between server maintenance and the making of
code-based, sound art. The artwork involves thinking about
infrastructure in different ways and features several routers which
communicate with each other in real time. The devices exchange data in
the form of messages and produce audio. The piece reflects a core
focus of Riviera's reserach: the validity of performative software
practices. It brings together aspects of her practice and research
which orbits software as both an area of inquiry and modus
operandi.
