from

Brother's place

to

Mother's place

1. Reserve a parking spot before the pavement.

1a* Keep an eye on the board to see if no one does actually park.

1a. Make a board to show that neighbours need to keep the space open for the time that Brother is there.

1b. Put A4 on the wall indicating that space need to be kept free for time being.

1c. Find two Traffic Cones and put them next to board.

1d. With Chalk, write N.P. on tiles of parking spot.

N.P. = NO PARKING

1e. Prepare the setup.

2. Place a Small Ramp or a plank on an empty parking spot.*

3. Place a Ramp from the street to the curb.

4. Place a Ramp from the curb that which transitions into another a hill going into the hallway.

5. Place another small ramp in the corridor to enter the entrance hall.*

5a.*Please consider the fact these need to be purchased and stored.

5b. (take time to research ramp, call with sellers, measure the size/weight/height/angles)

6. Apply for Social Taxi, to get my Brother to my Mother

6a. Waiting time, approximately 6-8 weeks. Depending if you are granted the right to get social taxi. There are two ways to get this. It will take longer if you have either WMO (Wet Maatschappelijke Ondersteuning. See Social Act of 2015)

7. When granted access to the service of Social Taxi, request a ride.

7a. Via App or Phonecall. (This needs to be planned with everyones schedule so that I can push my brother up and down the ramp if needed.)

8. Hope that parking spot is empty, taxi driver comes early and weather is good.

9. Hope that taxi will be on time.

9a. Please consider that it is very likely the driver will be too late and too early so the convenience of the get together truly depends on how the granted social taxi will treat you-----But when requesting a ride, you can reserve a booking via the app or call the company. It just works like a regular taxi service. It gets communicated via some sort of telecommunication device :

KRRRGGSSSHHHHHHH ## \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"I'mavailable"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\-------PEEP##124//////"We have a ride from Boermarke 65 to Statenweg 127a" //////////////////////////////////////////---- ## \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Yes I will take that one'\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\BEEP\/////////////"Okay"///////////////////////stop

10. Brother then communicates that he has a ride planned. He sends us a message and we set up the small and large ramps. We tip the driver based on the fact if they help, are friendly, cooperate and participate.

45 MINUTE DELAY

10a. My brother arrives but had to wait because the drives needed to pick up other people.

11. Get brother inside the house by pushing him in the wheelchair inside the house.

11a. Use 'pusher' interface of electric wheelchair.*

11b. !IMPORTANT:The wheelchair has three modes.

  1. Analog: All electricity is turned off, it turns the electric wheelchair in a 'regular' wheelchair.
  2. Manual Wheelchair Driver Mode: Brother has an engine to drive alone.
  3. Electric Pusher Mode

11c. click 'POWER'

11d. determine speed.

11e. to go forward, push triangle that goes up.

12. Push Brother Forward.

13. Brother is in the Hallway.

14. Brother is in the Hall.

15. To get Brother from the Hall into the Living Room, the situation becomes hybrid. Brother tries to do it himself.

15a. I wait until he requests my help.

15b. I help him to get from the hallway into the Living Room my repositioning him in the right angle.

16. We can have some quality time together

16a. Some drinks and snacks and just have a wholesome time even though this takes a lot of effort. the scheduled meeting then changes from a tense or more or less focussed situation into a calm down so that everybody is together. My brother is capable of doing this for around 6 hours until he gets tired.

17. When end of day has been reached. Either book another ride or if already reserved, prepare for the ride back.

18. Gather Brother's stuff.

19. This time, go backwards to the Hallway.

19a. Turn on the backmotor.

20. Readjust the corner again.

21. Go backwards to the hill.

22. Go into the Hall.

23. Exit the house.

23a. Set the speed on a such a low tempo that the pushing decreases the weight of the wheelchair.

23a1. Based on previous experiences. Analog Mode is not advised since the motorized vehicle has a counterweight that makes the process of getting Brother down on the street again. It gives an emotional counterweight because I then put a big pressure on myself which makes this task something that is extremely stressful.

24. In most of the cases it is most likely that the taxi is too early, as in a half an hour without corresponding. Sending us into a stressful situation and making these easy chillings relatively intensive.

25. Brother is back home, we can slowly collapse and evaluate.

26. Maybe it's an idea to contact WMO*

26a. *WMO = Wet Maatschappelijke Ondersteuning, the social act of 2015.

26b. My Brother has the Social Taxi thanks to WMO.

26c. My brother needed to apply for Social Taxi.

27. Maybe it's an idea to ask the Gemeente to adjust a curb. But where do we request this?

28. It's to replace the plank and to make it easier to flow with the ramp situation.

29. We also want to cancel the parking spot in front of Mothers house.

30. Send a mail to the Gemeente.

31. Gemeente Responds!: "You ask if the municipality can adjust the curb and cancel the parking spot. Adjusting the curb is part of WMO, while cancelling the parkings spot is for the Counter 'City Management'. I will get back to you two weeks.

32. There is a family meeting coming up soon.

33. Is it possible to plan a ride that combines Mother and Brother's Social Taxi 'privileges'?

34. Contact the Social Taxi Service.

34a. Ask the question. "Is it possible to book a ride where both we [Mother and I] and Brother can join a ride where the driver picks up Brother first and then us? And then head to Family Meeting?"

34b. Response "No. Brother does not need a Supervisor and can be brought on his own, therefore it is not possible to pick him up on the same ride as you. It is also not possible to book the ride from You to Brother and then to Location. There needs to be an hour between these rides."

34c. Then just both book two rides.

34d. On the day itself we sat in the same bus to Family Meeting.

35. Organize a get together for Holiday.

36. Plan Rides for Arrival and Departure.

37. Be there an hour early to:

37a. Set up Ramp Situation.

37b. Notice that the Ramp is not on its location.

37c. Ask Mother if she put it somewhere else

37d. Mother says no and asks "why?"

37e. Explain that the ramp wasn't there.

37f. We conclude that someone stole the ramp.

37g. Both Brother and Grandfather were on their way.

37h. Mother prepared a Brunch but now we needed to improvise.

37i. Sitting outside for as long as the sun is our side of the street.

37j. Make the best out of the situation.

37k. Conclude that we need to end the day on an early note because of the temperature and the physical limits of people.

37l. Recover and rest from this happening.

37m. Ask ourselves "who in their right mind would steal a ramp, knowing that person that lives here also has a mobility scooter and a notes hanging around based on our situation?"

38. Could it be an option to contact the Gemeente about a permanent ramp?

39. Contact WMO again.

40. Ask them if it would be possible to edit the pavement in our advantage.

41. Neighborhood Architect randomly visits.

41a. Neighborhood Architect makes an estimation.

42. It can take a year for the design to come.

43. It can take a year after that for actual adjustment of the street to start making it happen..

Trevvel(social taxi) is something that is granted, depending already on your situation. These are a few of the many stories of how customized so called "social" transport, still has plenty of drivers and systems that are not listening to the needs of the travelers. And the fact that people need to wait 6-8 weeks depending on their situation and what kind of law you qualify for. if they qualify for this?! My brother in this case ends up less healthy and supported than this Social Support Law and Customized Transport.
